Prerequisites

If you haven't already, follow the initial steps of the Getting Started guide:

  1. Install Meltano
  2. Create your Meltano project

Installation and configuration

  1. Add the tap-exacttarget extractor to your project using
    meltano add
    :
  2. meltano add extractor tap-exacttarget --variant uptilab2
  3. Configure the tap-exacttarget settings using
    meltano config
    :
  4. meltano config tap-exacttarget set --interactive
  5. Test that extractor settings are valid using
    meltano config
    :
  6. meltano config tap-exacttarget test

Batch Size (batch_size)

  • Environment variable: TAP_EXACTTARGET_BATCH_SIZE

The batch size to request, default 2500.


Configure this setting directly using the following Meltano command:

meltano config tap-exacttarget set batch_size [value]

Client ID (client_id)

  • Environment variable: TAP_EXACTTARGET_CLIENT_ID

Your Salesforce Marketing Cloud/Exact Target client ID.


Configure this setting directly using the following Meltano command:

meltano config tap-exacttarget set client_id [value]

Client Secret (client_secret)

  • Environment variable: TAP_EXACTTARGET_CLIENT_SECRET

Your Salesforce Marketing Cloud/Exact Target client secret.


Configure this setting directly using the following Meltano command:

meltano config tap-exacttarget set client_secret [value]

Discover Data Extension (discover_data_extension)

  • Environment variable: TAP_EXACTTARGET_DISCOVER_DATA_EXTENSION

A boolean option whether to sync data extension.


Configure this setting directly using the following Meltano command:

meltano config tap-exacttarget set discover_data_extension [value]

Incremental Mode Send (incremental_mode_send)

  • Environment variable: TAP_EXACTTARGET_INCREMENTAL_MODE_SEND

A setting to alter the replication method to incremental mode. This can also be done using the tap's stream metadata settings.


Configure this setting directly using the following Meltano command:

meltano config tap-exacttarget set incremental_mode_send [value]

Offset Start Date (Days) (offset_start_date)

  • Environment variable: TAP_EXACTTARGET_OFFSET_START_DATE

The amount of days to offset the start date or bookmarked date by. The value is an integer in days. Default, None.


Configure this setting directly using the following Meltano command:

meltano config tap-exacttarget set offset_start_date [value]

Request Timeout (request_timeout)

  • Environment variable: TAP_EXACTTARGET_REQUEST_TIMEOUT

The request timeout length, default 300.


Configure this setting directly using the following Meltano command:

meltano config tap-exacttarget set request_timeout [value]

Start Date (start_date)

  • Environment variable: TAP_EXACTTARGET_START_DATE

Determines how much historical data will be extracted. Please be aware that the larger the time period and amount of data, the longer the initial extraction can be expected to take.


Configure this setting directly using the following Meltano command:

meltano config tap-exacttarget set start_date [value]

Tenant Subdomain (tenant_subdomain)

  • Environment variable: TAP_EXACTTARGET_TENANT_SUBDOMAIN

Configure this setting directly using the following Meltano command:

meltano config tap-exacttarget set tenant_subdomain [value]

Authentication

Get credentials from Exacttarget. You'll need to:

  • Create a Salesforce Marketing Cloud App
  • Authenticate it to your Exacttarget account
  • Get client ID and secret. Save these -- you'll need them in the next step.
  • Find out if the sales force integration package is created (after 1st Aug, 2019) with only OAuth2 support
  • Find your tenant subdomain {tenant-subdomin}.login.exacttarget.com
  • Obtian a refresh token following the steps here

Stream Selection

If you select the subscriber stream, you MUST select list_subscriber as well. subscriber is replicated through list_subscriber.
